Behind Heisman Trophy candidate LaMichael James, the mighty Ducks offense rolled up 524 yards. James had 123 of his own on the ground, going for three touchdowns. Quarterback Darron Thomas contributed 90 yards and two touchdowns on the ground while passing for 244 yards and a touchdown.
Things actually started slowly in Eugene, though. Through one quarter, the game was scoreless. Midway through the second quarter, the game was knotted at three. Starting with James' score with 5:13 left in the second quarter, however, the Ducks morphed back into the offensive machine the nation has grown accustomed to seeing. In the game's final 36 minutes, Oregon scored 50 points on seven touchdowns.
Washington (3-6, 2-4 in Pac-10 play) can still salvage the season by winning out and getting to a bowl. The Huskies must face UCLA at home before road contests against Cal and Washington State.
The Ducks (9-0, 6-0) will remain atop all rankings, likely including the BCS standings. They will travel to Cal next weekend before a very tough final two games. The Ducks will face No. 13 Arizona at home before heading to Oregon State for the Civil War. If they emerge victorious in all three games, a trip to Glendale, Ariz. for the national championship is a sure thing.
