Frankie Boyle comes under fire again after making ?racist? jibes in Tromadol nights?

Tromadol Nights is proving to be a bit of a controversial sore point for Channel 4 isn?t it? After Frankie Boyle?s jibes about Jordan?s son Harvey a few weeks ago, the comedian has come under fire again this time for using derogatory, racist language.

Viewers are said to have been ?outraged? by the Boyle?s use of the racist words ?n*****? and ?p***? during a recent episode of his programme. During a monologue on the show he said:

?What gets me is our callousness as a society when we read out our dead on the news first, because our lives are more important. Other people's aren't worth as much."

In the voice of a newsreader he said: "A bomb went off in Kandahar today, killing two British servicemen, three UN relief workers and a whole bunch of p**is."

He added: "The Ministry of Defence? At least in the old days we were honest - it was the Ministry of War! 'Hello, Ministry of War, department of n***er-bombing, how can I help?'"

Anti-racism campaigners have called on Channel 4 to take action against Boyle over his comments, however the broadcaster have defended themselves saying:

"Channel 4 strongly refutes any suggestion we are endorsing or condoning racist language by our broadcast of Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights.

"This cutting edge comedy is clearly intended to ridicule and satirise the use of these words - Frankie Boyle was not endorsing them. Channel 4 would not have broadcast these words had they been used in a racist way. All the jokes highlight the unacceptable nature of this language."

A Conservative MP has predictably chipped in on the row today saying that the use of racists terminology in comedy is never ?justified? and he described Boyle as a ?serial offender? - he also called for Ofcom to get involved in the matter.

So what do you think, were Boyle?s comments too offensive given their context or were they justified because of their satirical nature?
