What the hell has Kim Kardashian done to her hair?!

Wow, this is even funnier than the time that Jordan got her hair cornrowed - mostly because Kim Kardashian actually had really nice hair before having it braided which is why we?re slightly confused as to why she decided to have this done.

But apparently the reality star got this new look (which some have said makes her look slightly like something out of Predator) for her new music video (yes, before you ask she really has made a song) which she?s currently filming. Before revealing her new look, Kim told her followers on Twitter:

?OMG u guys have no idea what I'm doing today! You are gonna DIE!!!!?

A few days later she Tweeted:

?Day #3 Night shoot! I'm fighting hair and make up....this look is a little cray cray, but I'm going for it!?

Well at least you like it Kim and we suppose that?s all that really matters, isn?t it? Or we suppose that?s what she?s told herself anyway...

Michelle Williams Says She'll Watch 'Brokeback Mountain' With Daughter

Actress says Matilda will see the film in which her mother and father Heath Ledger co-starred 'when she's ready.'
By Terri Schwartz

Michelle Williams already told MTV News that she'll show her daughter Matilda her racy drama "Blue Valentine" someday, but that's not the only controversial film the actress thinks she'll be proud to show her child. In an interview with Angeleno magazine, Williams said that there will be a time in Matilda's future when she will sit down and show her daughter "Brokeback Mountain," a film that has a special place in Williams' heart.

"I will watch it with her, when she's ready," she said of the gay-cowboy film in which she co-starred with the late Heath Ledger, Matilda's father. "It is hard to imagine what that would feel like, but one day, yes, we will watch it together."

When describing why "Brokeback" was so important to their family, Williams said, "I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matilda's father, and that is a lot. It was a lot. And it will be a lot for Matilda too, when she gets around to watching it."

Matilda is only 5-years-old now, but Williams told MTV that she is excited for the day when she can share her work with her child. She described "Blue Valentine" as a movie she could "stand behind" and has been thinking a lot about what Matilda's reaction to her filmography will be.

"I feel like I'm excited for the day when she's old enough to see it, because my aim is to make her proud that the time I spent away from her wasn't in vain," she explained.

Williams recently opened up to the press about Ledger's death. Her ex-boyfriend was found dead in his apartment on January 22, 2008, at age 28. His death was attributed to an accidental overdose of a number of prescription medications.

"I've found meanings around the circumstance, but the actual event itself still doesn't ... I can't find a meaning for it," Williams told ABC's "Nightline." "I can find meanings in things and people and relationships that have sprung up and friendships that have strengthened. I can find a lot of meaning in that, but not in why."

Check out everything we've got on "Blue Valentine."

10 Best Movie Quotes Of 2010

The most memorable movie lines require three things: They must sound like something a real person (or at least the character uttering them) would, you know, actually say; they must be smarter, funnier and snappier than what a real person would actually say (this sounds like it would contradict the first point, but it doesn't); [...]

Is East Coast Blizzard To Blame For Scrooge-Like Christmas Box Office?

Snow isn't the only thing that kept 'Little Fockers' and other films from raking in the bucks.
By Tom DiChiara

Holiday weekends often equate to big bucks at the box office. And while Christmas weekend doesn't always pack the punch of a Labor Day, Memorial Day or Fourth of July, it has been known to generate its fair share of cash. There are an abundance of revenue-friendly family flicks, Christmas Day movie marathons have become a popular tradition and mall-goers often take a break from hitting up post-holiday sales to catch a film.

But what happens to those Christmas-weekend box-office numbers when almost the entire East Coast, from North Carolina through Maine, is pummeled by a blizzard on December 26? Safe money would bet that B.O. revenues drop as precipitously as 2 feet of snow. And though those numbers probably chilled Hollywood execs to the bone, they weren't just due to the blizzard.

The lackluster $30.8 million take of "Little Fockers" topped the charts for a weekend that was down a whopping 48 percent from last year's Christmas-weekend receipts of $270 million (an all-time record for any weekend, by the way). But a quick look at the numbers suggests that while snowy weather certainly didn't help matters, it was not to blame for the Scrooge-like turnout at the box office.

For starters, Christmas Eve, a notoriously slow movie-going day, fell on a Friday this year, eating into a big slice of the weekend box office. "Fockers" was the day's top-grossing flick with a paltry $4.95 million. By comparison, the movie earned about $7.2 million on both Wednesday (when it opened) and Thursday, and took in $14.6 million and $11.3 million on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. More to the point, "Fockers" saw its box-office haul drop just 23 percent from Christmas Day (Saturday) to Sunday, when the snow hit. That number is in line with normal Saturday to Sunday decreases. Meanwhile, "True Grit" saw its earnings fall a mere 6.5 percent from Saturday to Sunday, while "Tron Legacy" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" dropped only around 1 percent, and "Yogi Bear" and "Tangled" saw their revenues increase over the same two-day period.

Numbers aside, one can't ignore the possibility that the movies in theaters this Christmas simply weren't as appealing to moviegoers as those in previous years. Last year's record-setting weekend was spearheaded by the one-two-three punch of "Avatar," which raked in $75.6 million in its second week of release, "Sherlock Holmes" ($62.4 million) and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" ($48.9 mil).

Though "Little Fockers" had a built-in audience, its 2004 predecessor "Meet the Fockers," which led the B.O. the last time Christmas fell on a Friday, wasn't as well-received as the franchise's first entry, 2000's "Meet the Parents." Combine that with the fact that "Little Fockers" didn't exactly wow critics (it scored only an 11 percent rating on review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com), and it's not hard to see why the threequel failed to snag blockbuster numbers. And, while the Coen brothers' Western "True Grit" rode a wave of critical praise to a second-place finish and an impressive $24.9 million gross (the biggest opening for a Western ever), that wasn't enough to make up for a shallow field of holiday-weekend contenders.

In other words, Mother Nature is off the hook for this one.

Demi Lovato Will Not Star In 'The Avengers'

Disney starlet was rumored to be up for a role in the all-star superhero film.
By James Dinh

Demi Lovato still has her 2011 touring plan, but one gig the teen sensation doesn't have on her agenda is a starring role in "The Avengers." Contrary to reports, the 18-year-old singer/actress will not be featured in the film about a team of Marvel superheroes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

THR reports that sources inside Lovato's and Marvel's camps are "denying across the board" that the "Camp Rock" star is involved in any way in the all-star comic book adaptation, which is tentatively due in 2012. Part of the difficulty in hiring the actress is that the Joss Whedon-directed film will begin shooting in spring 2011 and the starlet is still undergoing her medical treatment for "emotional and physical issues."

Despite the circulating Lovato rumor, Marvel may still be on the lookout for another female actress to join the male-heavy cast. As of now, "The Avengers" superhero lineup includes Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).

Things have been looking up for the "Sonny With a Chance" star. Not only did the songstress come to an agreement with dancer Alex Welch, whom she allegedly punched before leaving her joint tour with the Jonas Brothers, but the Disney star was also able to spend some time with her family on Christmas Day. She was spotted with her family on the holiday getting food near her treatment facility in Woodridge, Illinois.

Stephen Dorff Talks 'Somewhere,' Career Ups And Downs

'I thought I was a sell-out, playing a vampire,' the actor says about his memorable role in 'Blade.'
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Stephen Dorff
Photo: MTV News

Although his role in "Somewhere" was one of the most challenging of his career, Stephen Dorff is grateful to writer/director Sofia Coppola for giving him the opportunity to play a character who is a complete departure from the menacing, murderous types audiences are used to seeing him portray.

When MTV News caught up with the actor, he explained that "Somewhere" is the kind of independent art film he was most interested in at the start of his career — which has spanned more than two decades — but when Hollywood started calling, he reluctantly veered into bigger films playing bad boys and villains.

"[After the 1992 coming-of-age drama 'Power of One,'] Hollywood was coming to me, but I was kind of resisting," Dorff said of his early years in the business. "I really wanted to make art films. I loved working on movies like 'I Shot Andy Warhol' [and] 'S.F.W.' I liked doing edgier things. I was kind of into Nirvana, I was into rebelling against my childhood."

He added, "I wasn't really interested in playing vulnerable, sweet parts, like I played in 'Power of One' and 'Backbeat,' so in a way I think I did that to my own image. I kind of fought it. Then, when it came time to wanting to do [a sensitive role again], it wasn't necessarily there for me.

"Then 'Blade' came around and I thought that was the end of my career," Dorff admitted. "Because I thought I was a sell-out, playing a vampire."

Dorff said that those reservations eventually subsided and that he enjoyed making the action-horror flick.

"I had a good time with [director] Steve Norrington," Dorff said. "I knew he was talented. I had seen this little teeny movie he did and I knew this guy was going to make a good movie."

Dorff went on to say that now he feels that "Blade," as well as the first "Matrix" movie, were well ahead of their time with regard to what they opened up for filmmaking.

"Now we have so many comic-book movies and they're kind of regenerating the same movie," he explained. "In a way, there's not much originality to them. I like that we did ours earlier."

Dorff said that leading up to and after "Blade," he tried going for less dark roles, but that he couldn't resist opportunities to work with the likes of Jack Nicholson (1997's "Blood and Wine") and other great actors, so he became typecast.

"Up until now, really, this movie is the first time somebody like Sofia [Coppola] said, 'Well there's another side to Stephen, maybe he can play the leading man, maybe he can be a little sweeter and not have to kill everybody," Dorff suggested.

"It's nice that now I get texts after 'Somewhere' [that say,] 'You make such a good dad!' " he reveals about his family members' reactions to his performance in the film. "It's so different than 'Why were you so scary and mean?' "

'Little Fockers' Cast On What They Missed Most Since Last Movie

'For me, it's always exciting to come to work with Mr. DeNiro,' Ben Stiller says of his co-star.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian

It's hard to believe that it's been six years since audiences were treated to a Fockers film. "Meet the Fockers," the sequel to "Meet the Parents," was released in 2004. Even more difficult to believe is that it's been a full decade since the original opened in 2000. With the arrival of the third installment in the franchise, "Little Fockers," opening Wednesday (December 22), we wanted to know what the castmembers missed most about each other during their long six years away from the Focker and Byrnes families.

"Cuddling," Dustin Hoffman, who plays Ben Stiller's father Bernie Focker, joked. "We hadn't cuddled for six years."

"Cuddling, that was a good one," Owen Wilson agreed. "There's something about this guy, I can't keep my eyes off him ... my hands off him. You just want to hug him."

"Owen and I work very similarly together," Hoffman explained of their affection for one another. "And we yearn for the time when we can have an entire film together."

"That would be nice," Wilson said. But when asked about the long hiatus between films, Hoffman seemed to enjoy the break.

"I kind of like the blessed relief of not having to do another 'Fockers' for six years," he said with a chuckle.

"Yeah, I think it is nice to let it percolate," Wilson added.

The actresses who play onscreen mother and daughter noted that the passage of time has been met with many milestones, both in the film and in real life.

"Now we have children," Blythe Danner said. Gesturing to co-star Teri Polo, Danner continued, "She didn't have children in real life when we started 10 years ago. I didn't have grandchildren 10 years ago in real life. So we're mature women now. We've all matured, in positive and negative ways."

"Speak for yourself!" Polo joked about the "mature women" comment. "There's a dance, a familiarity, a dance, a rhythm, a song that you just fall back into," she said of coming back to work with her "Focker" castmates. "When you walk onto the set for the first time after five years and see Robert DeNiro, it's just awesome. Believe it or not, he's a warm man," Polo added. "He's a man of few words but very warm." Speaking of DeNiro, Stiller insisted his legendary co-star was happy for time away from him.

"He didn't miss me," Stiller said. "For me, it's always exciting to come to work with Mr. DeNiro. I feel like after 10 years I finally feel OK calling you 'Bob.' I finally feel like I'm not forcing that," he said. "It's always great to have a chance to work together, the whole cast, it's always fun to see everybody."

'Spider-Man' Musical Director Speaks Out On Injuries

'An accident like this is obviously heartbreaking for our entire team,' Julie Taymor says in statement.
By Terri Schwartz

Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ WireImage

There's been a lot of negative press about Julie Taymor's Broadway musical "Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark," after a fourth castmember, aerialist and stunt double Christopher Tierney, was injured during a preview performance on Monday. A spokesperson for the show made a statement on Tuesday and the Actors' Equity Association spoke to MTV News about the show's streak of injuries. And now Taymor has commented about the show's continued bad luck.

"An accident like this is obviously heartbreaking for our entire team and, of course, to me personally," Taymor said in her statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I am so thankful that Chris is going to be alright and is in great spirits. Nothing is more important than the safety of our 'Spider-Man' family and we'll continue to do everything in our power to protect the cast and crew."

Tierney's injury spurred the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Actors' Equity Association and New York State Department of Labor to meet with the "Spider-man" company on Tuesday and institute additional safety measures to prevent further injuries. But some other Broadway stars took to their social networking accounts to demand Taymor stop production on the $65 million musical.

"SPIDERMAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ITSELF. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND EMBARRASSING TO WORKING ACTORS EVERYWHERE," Tony Award-winning actress Alice Ripley tweeted on Tuesday. "DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE? WHERE IS THE LINE FOR THE DECISION MAKERS, I AM CURIOUS."

"Rent" star Adam Pascal took to his Facebook page Tuesday and said, "I have to weigh in on Spiderman. They should put Julie Taymor in jail for assault! I know what it's like to fall and get hurt in front of 2,000 people. It's no fun, but at least it was the one time it happened. I hope whoever was hurt is ok and sues the sh-- out of Julie, Bono, Edge and every other a--hole who invested in that steaming pile of actor crippling sh--!"

Pascal toned down his anger and clarified his comments on Wednesday (December 22): "I think some of you missed the intended humor in my post, although my anger is real, I don't think anyone should sue Bono and the Edge you dummy! Or put Julie Taymor in jail you double dummy. I was making a point."

As of now, "Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark" preview performances are proceeding as planned, and the official Broadway opening date has been pushed back from January 11 to February 7. Wednesday's matinee was the only performance canceled due to Tierney's injury.

Do you think "Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark" should be canceled due to the danger involved? Tell us in the comments.

Jeff Bridges Heaps Praise On 'True Grit' Co-Star Hailee Steinfeld

Bridges calls the 14-year-old actress' performance 'remarkable.'
By Terri Schwartz

Jeff Bridges
Photo: MTV News

With the Coen brothers' "True Grit" making its way into theaters this week, all eyes likely will be turning to newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, who plays the film's young leading lady, Mattie Ross. In her first major role, the 14-year-old actress ultimately has to carry the first portion of the movie, and her performance has been garnering some serious buzz during this awards season. When MTV News caught up with Steinfeld's co-star Jeff Bridges while he was promoting "True Grit," he said he was impressed by the intensity of her performance while they were filming on set.

"What a tough, challenging role for a seasoned actor. All that dialogue, kind of tricky way of speaking. Thirteen-year-old girl, never been in a movie, and she comes up with that performance," Bridges gushed. "Isn't that remarkable?"

Steinfeld found herself surrounded by a full cast and crew of cinema veterans. The Coen brothers won an Oscar for directing 2008's "No Country for Old Men" and have been nominated two other times, Bridges took home a Best Actor Oscar for his role in last year's "Crazy Heart," and Matt Damon and Josh Brolin both have received Academy Award nods in acting categories in the past. But Bridges said Steinfeld didn't need any acting tips from himself or any of the other castmembers.

"I might have slipped out a tip once or twice, and I always regret when I would do that. It's almost like a reflex action — you can't help but put yourself into the other actor's position sometimes," he explained. "I always appreciate a tip from some guy, one of the other players, but no, I let her run free. The brothers directed her beautifully."

With all the buzz Steinfeld has been getting for her "True Grit" performance, she now is one of the main actresses being looked at to play another strong female character: Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games." When Steinfeld spoke with MTV recently while promoting "True Grit," she said it "would definitely be an honor" to even be considered for the Katniss role.

"I didn't even realize that people were mentioning my name," she said. "It's every actor's dream to be recognized for something that they love to do, and to get recognized for that is pretty amazing. I thank the people out there who think that."

Check out everything we've got on "True Grit."

Leighton Meester Talks 'Country Strong' Twang Training

The 'Gossip Girl' star says she has a 'newfound appreciation' for country music after working on the film.

Although three of the four big names in "Country Strong" are not, in fact, country singers, they took their training very seriously in order to get in touch with their inner Southern twang. And not only that, when MTV News caught up with Leighton Meester recently — who plays beauty queen-turned-aspiring country artist Chiles Stanton in the flick — she revealed that the filmmakers made sure that each actor was set up with their own music producer in order to fully perfect their singing.

"I think it was really surprising how everything kind of came together," Meester said of her country-music training. "Each of us got our own producers to work with and mine [Nathan Chapman], he works very closely with Taylor Swift, which is sort of similar, in the same vein of the music that I'm making in the movie.

"[Chapman is] kind of like a teenage girl in a grown man's body. He's very good at reaching that young female idea, the music that I sing," she added. "He definitely helped a lot."

Meester went on to explain that shooting "Country Strong" helped her discover a new passion for Nashville and its music.

"Just being in Nashville and working there and meeting the most incredible musicians and producers and songwriters and singers, just being in that world was really cool," the "Gossip Girl" star said. "I have this newfound appreciation for that style of music."

As far as Meester's singing career goes, she said she hopes to go on tour herself one day, and promised that she's hard at work on her album.

"I don't know [when it will be released]," she said. "I recorded three songs recently. I have, like, 20 more to do,. So I don't know when that's going to happen. I just really want it to be perfect. I'm not in any rush. It's all in my heart, and I'm really happy how it's going. I've been very inspired, even with this movie, how I write."

Thanks to a recent stay overseas, Meester said she came back chock-full of potential material for the album.

"I was doing a movie in Budapest and Paris and was so lonely and writing all this music, and when I got back to the States, I got set up with this band," she said of teaming up with Check in the Dark. "And they're perfectly complementary to it and they understand, somehow, my girly emotional side."

Topher Grace On The Complicated Life Of 'Take Me Home Tonight'

The '80s-set flick's depiction of cocaine use was partly responsible for long release-date delay.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

The inner workings of Hollywood are a perpetual mystery, particularly when film scheduling is involved. The normal filmmaking, script-to-screen process is, in a nutshell, basic: Script is written, produced, filmed, edited, promoted — and voila! It hits theaters. But as many beleaguered writers/producers/directors/actors know, things don't always go so smoothly.

Take, for example, the comedy "Take Me Home Tonight" (formerly titled "Kids in America"), which stars Topher Grace (who's also executive producer), Ana Faris, Dan Fogler, Teresa Palmer and Michelle Trachtenberg. Not exactly an indie, no-name cast, and yet the film completed principal photography in late 2006/ early 2007 and is just now getting released.

When MTV News caught up with Grace recently, we asked him to take us through the producing process that finally led to its release date.

"[The film came from] this idea that every generation had a film that looked about 20 years back," Grace said, adding the fact that no one had captured the spirit of the '80s in film without making fun of the decade. "We wanted to do something that felt like it was literally made in the '80s. So, we brought this to a different studio, and they were very supportive when they made the film, so we're very grateful for that."

What slowed down the process from there, Grace explained, was a hesitation from the studio with several scenes that involve cocaine use. "It tested really well," he said. "It's an audience film. It's not drama, but there was a real hesitation because there is so much cocaine in it, and our feeling at the time was, 'You can't do a movie about Prohibition without alcohol, and you really can't do a movie about partying in the '80s, at the age these kids are, without showing cocaine use."

Lucky for Grace and his producing partner Gordon Kaywin, the film received new life at Imagine Entertainment, via veteran producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.

"We had fun producing, but those guys are the real deal," Grace said of Howard and Grazer. "We learned a lot from them, and they're probably the greatest producers of our time. So, they encouraged us to not change the cut, which I thought was a really cool move."

Grace also credited Ryan Kavanaugh, the CEO of Relativity Media (the studio that is now releasing the film), with understanding and helping execute their original idea.

"He understood that you can't make a movie like 'Dazed and Confused' if it doesn't have pot in it," Grace said. "You just can't; it doesn't ring true. It's not that real thing we talk about, and he and his team embraced it, and that's the film we got to see."

The former "That '70s Show" star said he's thrilled with the final result.

"We're so happy with the film. It's creatively exactly what we wanted, and it's exactly the opposite of the normal situation where stuff gets cut," he said. "[For us] it was the opposite: We got to put stuff back in."

Survivor: Nicaragua?s Jane: ?Screw you! Y?all are not eating and can go hungry?

Survivor1216.jpg Survivor: Nicaragua?s Jane: ?Screw you! Y?all are not eating and can go hungry? No one can say 56-year-old Jane Bright, of Jackson Springs, N.C., did not play her hardest when it comes to the game of Survivor. Jane survived 36 days in some of the harshest elements in Survivor history and never once did we hear her complain. In fact, the only thing she is complaining about now is the faith she placed in fellow country boy Chase, whom she trusted implicitly, only to be blindsided on last night?s episode when she was voted out.

After bonding with Chase early in the game, Jane believed it would be smooth sailing to the finale at Chase?s side. But when Fabio (Jud), who had just won immunity at a challenge, suggested Jane be voted out, no matter how uncomfortable with the decision, Chase went along with his tribe mates.

Even though Chase did not lie when Jane confronted him about the choice to vote her out, she still harbors a grudge. ?I am still mad at Chase,? Jane tells In Touch. ?My only regret is putting as much faith in him as I did. I believed him being a N.C. boy that he?d be true to his word, as most Southern men are. He is not. If he is like that in real life then heaven help him as he has a hard road ahead.?

Jane may have been the 13th person voted out and the seventh member of the jury, but viewers are thanking her for going out with a bang. In one of the season?s most shocking moves, fiery Jane extinguished the campfire that she?d made her life?s mission to tend while in the elements. ?By God, I started it, I?ll put it out,? she exploded as she unleashed a bucket of water on its flames. ?I took Chase aside and said, ?By gosh if y?all are voting me out tonight, I am leaving with a bang and if you try to stop me you?ll regret it,? admits Jane, who does not regret her decision and reveals the others did not escape her wrath either. ?I was like screw you! Y?all are not eating and can go hungry.?

Tune in Sunday when the winner of Survivor: Nicaragua is crowned and for more with Jane, click here.

'Tron Legacy' Is A Virtual Hit At The Weekend Box Office

Disney's relaunch of 1980s sci-fi classic soars, while 'Yogi Bear' feasts on modest second-place snack.
By Josh Wigler

Twenty-eight years after the first film's release, the "Tron" franchise is officially back on the gaming grid. Walt Disney Pictures has poured a lot of time, money and effort behind "Tron Legacy," and it shows: The visceral techno-punk ride relies strongly on big-budget effects and a bass-heavy score from Daft Punk, all of which work on a surface level, but the question remains was it a commercial success?

Monetarily, "Legacy" was the weekend's clear winner, taking home a first-place prize worth $43.6 million. But some have been hesitant to call the result a flat-out victory, given the fact that it cost a reported $170 million to produce the Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde-starring reboot. That price tag doesn't even account for the various marketing and promotional efforts, which had more to do with "Tron" as a brand and less with the actual movie itself. With so much riding on solid box-office returns, the opening-weekend performance of "Legacy" wasn't exactly stellar.

In comparison, just a year ago James Cameron's "Avatar" debuted in theaters to a relatively lackluster $77 million opening weekend before going on to rule the box office for several weeks on a successful quest to become the world's highest-grossing movie of all time. It's not likely that "Legacy" will meet that same level of success, but with the Christmas holiday season in full effect as of next weekend, the "Tron" sequel could be saved if it shows some serious staying power.

Even if "Tron" didn't set the box office fully ablaze, it was easily the leader of the pack amongst new competition. "Yogi Bear" broke into the picnic basket and came up with a mere $16.7 million, not a surprising turnout given the mostly negative reviews thrown in the family film's direction. James L. Brooks' last week's box-office champ sunk to third place with a relatively disappointing $12.4 million take.

Awards-season favorites "The Fighter" and "Black Swan" expanded locations this weekend, and it showed in the numbers: The Mark Wahlberg-starring boxing drama punched out $12.2 million for fourth place while Natalie Portman's ballet thriller danced up $8.3 million to land in seventh place.

The Box-Office Top Five

#1 "Tron Legacy" ($43.6 million)
#2 "Yogi Bear" ($16.7 million)
#3 "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" ($12.4 million)
#4 "The Fighter" ($12.2 million)
#5 "The Tourist" ($8.7 million)

Upcoming Releases

It's Christmas time at the box office next weekend, an occasion marked by the arrival of Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro's "Little Fockers" on Wednesday alongside the Coen brothers' latest western, "True Grit." The competition blows up on Saturday when Jack Black sails onto screens with "Gulliver's Travels."

Gwyneth Paltrow Says Husband Chris Martin Is A 'Genius' Actor

'I don't think he would ever do it, but he's genius,' she tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Gwyneth Paltrow
Photo: MTV News

We know that Gwyneth Paltrow has the singing chops to portray a down-on-her-luck Nashville star in "Country Strong." But what MTV News didn't know was whether her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has what it takes to venture into the world of acting.

So we went straight to Paltrow and asked: Does Martin have acting skills as stellar as her singing talents?

"Definitely," Paltrow said of Martin's acting potential. "I don't think he would ever do it, but he's genius. Did you ever see him in 'Extras'?" Paltrow offered as proof. In his episode of the short-lived Ricky Gervais show, Martin guest-starred as an arrogant, exaggeratedly self-absorbed version of himself who tries to sneak a mention of a new Coldplay album into a public-service announcement about the need for clean drinking water.

Well, if Martin won't consider acting, might Paltrow consider doing a cover of a Coldplay song?

"Me? God no," Paltrow said. "No. We just can't, like, merge. His career is there and mine is there."

Don't count Paltrow out of the singing game yet, however. She did put some thought into what type of music she'd sing on an album of her own.

"I think if I was going to make a country record, it would be, like, a super-bare, kind of stripped-back kind of country," Paltrow explained. "Like a little bit of bluegrass-influenced kind of thing."

But Paltrow said she wouldn't necessarily limit herself to one genre, saying she really loved singing Cee Lo's "Forget You" on "Glee." "I also love singing '40s standards and stuff like that," she added.

Go for it, Gwyneth! And get your hubby to do some more acting while you're at it.

What would you prefer: a Gwyneth Paltrow album or Chris Martin acting? Tell us in the comments!
