Adele nominated for the Mercury Music Prize?

The Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize is like pretty prestigious innit, so Adele must be chuffed today to find out that her album 21 has been nominated for the sought-after gong which comes with a hefty cash prize of �20,000 plus loads of media exposure (not that she needs anymore, we must admit).

In the past some pretty unknown acts have been selected to win the prize (all winners are chosen via a vote from a panel of music industry leaders and experts), however bookies odds are already suggesting that Adele is an early favourite to win this year, as is PJ Harvey for her album Let England Shake.

We guess we?ll all find out for sure when the ceremony takes place on September 6th.
